Hyundai Tucson Vs Honda CR-V Vs Toyota RAV4

Hyundai Tucson

The small crossover market certainly has its standout models, with three of those being the Hyundai Tucson, the Honda CR-V, and the Toyota RAV4. All three vehicles are loaded with the features you want and provide a remarkable performance. Any of these choices would keep you safe and happy during your drives in the Bloomington, Martinsville, and Ellettsville, IN, areas.

At Andy Mohr Hyundai, we know your vehicle choice will come down to the specifications, so we’ve created this comparison of the Tucson vs. CR-V vs. RAV4 to show you how each vehicle stacks up when put head-to-head. Each vehicle offers several interesting features that make them exciting.

All-Weather Driving

All-Weather Driving

In our area, we get to enjoy all the seasons throughout the year. Therefore, you’ll want a car that can handle all the weather conditions you’ll come across while driving.

When the temperature drops and the wind turns frosty and nips at our fingers and toes, it’s important to get into your car and clean it off if any snow has fallen overnight! In all three SUVs, gone are the days of chiseling away at the side mirrors in order to drive to work. How? They all feature available heated side mirrors.

Inside, you can stay warm and cozy with the available heated seats and heated steering wheel that all three models also offer. If it’s a dreary, raining day, all three SUVs also have optional rain-sensing windshield wipers that will automatically turn on and adjust their speed when it rains.

How about when it’s summer and you want to keep yourself nice and cool while driving? The Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4 each have available panoramic sunroofs that let in more sunshine and fresh air for you and your passengers to enjoy. Meanwhile, the CR-V features an available moonroof.

You can even cool off when it is hot and humid out in the 2022 Tucson or 2021 RAV4 by turning on their available ventilated front seats.

Fuel-Saving Technology

Fuel-Saving Technology

Even though this triple threat of SUVs is all built to keep you on the road longer by offering great gas mileage, that isn’t always enough. The benefit to the Tucson, CR-V, and the RAV4 is that they all come with some type of fuel-saving technology that maximizes how far you can drive on a single tank of fuel.

In the CR-V, you’ll get the standard Eco Assist System™, which limits performance features of the vehicle to conserve fuel. The CR-V will let you know when you’re driving efficiently by way of green cells that will appear on your dashboard near your speedometer. If the cells are blue, your vehicle is telling you that you’re not driving efficiently enough.

While that type of technology is valuable, the deterrent is that it can limit the performance of the CR-V. The RAV4 and the Tucson don’t have that problem. As part of the makeup of their engines, they feature Idle Stop & Go Technology (Stop and Start Engine System in the RAV4).

These systems will automatically turn the engine off when the car isn’t moving. It will automatically switch back on the second you take your foot off the brake. This prevents idling while the vehicle is on, which is a great way to save fuel. So, what’s the difference between the Tucson and the RAV4 here, you might ask?

This type of technology comes standard across all the Tucson trims, while it isn’t available in the base trim of the RAV4. So, if you want to get the most out of your SUV’s performance without having to upgrade to a higher trim level, the Tucson will serve you well.

Tucson vs CR-V vs RAV4: Safety

Safety

Nowadays, new vehicles come with technology that can help you react quickly in a variety of situations, so you can stay safe and away from any trouble out on the roads.

Within each vehicle, you’ll have systems that can alert you when the car in front of you suddenly slows down so you can apply the brakes in an effort to avoid a collision. Some safety systems can even detect when you start to drift outside the lane markings and help steer you back into the lines of your lane.

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson does have an additional safety feature that isn’t available in either the Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V: Driver Attention Warning (DAW). DAW monitors your driving habits and warns you when it senses you’ve become distracted or tired.

That way, you can quickly regain your focus on the road and even know when it is time to pull over, get out, and stretch your legs during your next road trip.

A Look Inside These 3 Models

Inside These 3 Models

Within each vehicle, you’ll have room for yourself along with four passengers. Among these three models, the Tucson and CR-V provide you with the most room. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson gives everyone a spacious ride with 108.2 cubic feet of passenger volume. Meanwhile, the 2021 RAV4 has just 98.9 cubic feet of passenger volume. The Tucson also has more headroom and legroom than the RAV4.

While the Honda CR-V also has a great deal of room inside for everyone, it doesn’t come standard with as many helpful infotainment features as the 2022 Hyundai Tucson. For instance, the Tucson comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration.

With these features, you can connect your smartphone and safely use its features while driving. Make phone calls, send text messages, get directions, and play your music when connected through either Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™. To have this same personal connection in the 2021 CR-V, you will have to upgrade to a higher trim level, and even then it’s a wired connection.

The Little Extras

The Little Extras

Sometimes in life, we live for the little extras that we don’t expect but have come to love. One of these little extras in the Tucson is the addition of available privacy glass in all the rear windows, which means your backseat riders can see out, but others will have difficulty seeing in. This feature comes standard on the RAV4, but is only an option with the Honda CR-V.

Part of the beauty of owning a small crossover is the ability to tote around cargo. The Tucson offers a great deal of space that is similar in volume to the RAV4 and the CR-V; however, it also has a dual level cargo floor.

If you want to pack your ornamental olive tree in the back of your car, you can drop down the floor a level, so you don’t have to worry about it being damaged in the move. While the RAV4 comes standard with a similar feature, the CR-V goes without this feature for your cargo convenience.

Get Yourself an SUV That Can Park Itself

Do you get stressed out when you have to manually park in a tight space either on a busy street or in a congested parking lot? Or, do you want to never have to parallel park again? If you just nodded your head yes, then you’re going to love the Hyundai Tucson. The available Remote Smart Park Assist system literally takes parking out of your hands.

You’ve probably seen the commercials on TV for this feature. You know the one—all those Boston celebrities with the funny accents being amazed at the idea that a car can park itself. What’s great about that commercial is that it accurately displays how the feature works. At the push of a button, the Tucson can straighten itself out and move forward or backward into a spot.

You can even press a button to have the vehicle pull out of a spot and position itself so you’re ready to get in and drive away. Wicked smart, indeed.

Comparatively, the RAV4 has a parking assist feature, but it doesn’t come close to the convenience of Remote Smart Park Assist. The RAV4 has an available front and rear parking sonar system that can alert you when objects are nearby. If you come too close to something, the brakes can automatically be applied. The caveat to this is that you’ll still have to park the car yourself.

Unfortunately, the Honda doesn’t offer any sort of advanced parking features.

Is the Tucson, CR-V, or RAV4 the Better SUV?

While all these vehicles possess most of the popular features you want to see in your compact crossover, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson offers several outstanding benefits.

Overall, the 2022 Tucson balances both a spacious cabin with standard modern features for a fun and safe drive, which makes it the ultimate vehicle in its class. When the weather gets rough around the Bloomington, Martinsville, and Ellettsville, Indiana, areas, the Hyundai Tucson can keep you and your passengers safe during your travels.
