What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word performance in relation to your next car? Many drivers point out the engine that powers their vehicles. However, that’s just one part. Performance includes a number of different features that work together.
For instance, while both the Chevy and the Hyundai come standard with more than 280 horsepower, you still need gasoline to actually use any of that power. With large gas tanks that are fitting of their large size, the Hyundai Palisade and the Chevy Traverse have impressive MPG ratings for their size.
The Hyundai Palisade has an EPA-estimated 19 city/27 highway MPG rating, which will help you save on fuel.* In comparison, the Chevy Traverse has similar ratings. City drivers may notice a bit of a difference, though, with the EPA-estimated 18 city/27 highway rating.
Fortunately, both vehicles offer options when it comes to performance. While the Palisade comes with a 3.8L engine and the Traverse is equipped with a 3.6L one, both models come standard with Front Wheel Drive. In either model, you can opt for available All Wheel Drive instead.
You can even choose between different driving modes. The Chevy Traverse has up to four modes, while the Hyundai Palisade has five.
If you’re looking at 3-row SUVs, chances are you’ll be driving quite a bit with the whole family. Whether you have kids or friends riding in the back seats, the Hyundai Palisade and the Chevy Traverse both have more than enough room to stretch out.
Starting out with seating, both models have room for eight passengers to comfortably ride along. With automatic climate control systems, both the Palisade and the Traverse can provide all the comfort you need year-round. In fact, both models offer available heated front- and second-row outboard seats.
However, only the Palisade can be equipped with heated third-row seats. When it comes to ventilated seats, you’ll also find that only the Palisade offers it to second-row passengers.
You’ll also find the latest technology up front and center in these SUVs. This is another area where the Palisade takes the cake with its 12.3-inch touchscreen and available Harman Kardon® premium audio with 12 speakers.
While the Traverse has decent technology, its largest touchscreen is just eight inches, while the audio system maxes out at 10 speakers. You can certainly get by with these features, but it may be easier with the Palisade.
Speaking of technology, it’s time to see how modern-day technology has improved the safety features of these SUVs. Whether you’re driving alone or with the whole family, it’s important to stay safe on the road.
Fortunately, both the Palisade and the Traverse come equipped with high-tech driver-assistance features, such as:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Automatic Emergency Braking
However, the Palisade comes standard with features like Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Reverse Parking Distance Warning, while the Traverse only offers these as an available upgrade. Then, with the standard Driver Attention Warning of the Palisade, it’s clear which model puts your safety first.
The Hyundai Palisade even comes standard with Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Curve Control. This navigation system comes standard across all trims and even includes information about the traffic flow.
Unfortunately, the Chevy Traverse does not come standard with navigation. In fact, you can’t even upgrade the first two trims to have it, as it’s not available at all for those trims.
