The 2022 Kona Electric includes a Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor under the hood. It can generate 150 kW, which is equivalent to 201 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque. It includes a 356-volt Lithium-ion Polymer battery.

The Kona Electric is capable of driving an EPA-estimated 258 miles, which measures to an EPA-estimated 132 city, 108 highway, and 120 combined MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent).*

In terms of charging, the standard Level II charger takes up to nine hours and 15 minutes to fully charge the battery. However, a 50kW Level III Quick Charger only takes 64 minutes, while the 100kW Level III Quick Charger only takes 47 minutes to go from 10% to 80%.

Cabin Space & Cargo Capacity

The Hyundai Kona Electric offers enough space for up to five passengers inside the cabin. The first row includes 39.6 inches of headroom and 41.5 inches of legroom. The second row features 37.7 inches of headroom and 33.4 inches of legroom.

The Kona Electric also includes space in the back to store your materials for your adventures on the road. There’s 19.2 cubic feet of cargo space you can utilize. However, if you need more room, folding down the second row will increase the cargo space to 45.8 cubic feet.

There’s even wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ to integrate your phone into the touchscreen.

This electric compact SUV also offers driver-assistive technology. These systems work by using exterior-mounted sensors to measure your speed, distance from other cars, and your position on the road. When the sensors detect a potential collision or lane departure, they’ll provide a warning and can activate the brakes or steering to potentially reduce the severity of the impact and give you time to react.
