2018 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid vs Toyota Prius Performance
The new Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid
was designed to give you to a comfortable, long lasting drive with fewer stops for gas. It achieves this with a 1.6L GDI Atkinson Cycle 4-cylinder hybrid engine that gets up to 139 net horsepower.
The hybrid system also features a 32-kW high-power density motor and a 240V lithium-ion polymer battery. Working with this to improve output and efficiency is a valve train that features Dual-Continuous Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT), plus a 6-speed EcoShift® Dual Clutch
Transmission with Sport Mode.
When the eco friendly hybrid engine system, D-CVVT, and transmission come together, it gives the Hyundai Ioniq the ability to get up to an EPA-estimated 57 MPG city and 59 MPG highway. With its 11.9-gallon fuel tank, you’ll make fewer stops at the pump.
The 2018 Toyota Prius has less power under the hood and isn’t as fuel-efficient. It has a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that gets up to only 95 horsepower. It’s fuel tank is slightly smaller at 11.3 gallons and it gets an EPA-estimated 54 MPG city and 50 MPG highway.
